Tom Poole is an award-winning Television Director with wide ranging credits in Comedy, Drama and Programmes for Children. Although based in London he has worked frequently in Ireland, Scotland, Manchester, Leeds and the Midlands. He has extensive experience Single Camera Shooting (Video and Film) Multi-Camera Outside Broadcast and Studio Production.

Occasionally Tom has stepped out of these disciplines to make other kinds for show, “The Trial of the Twenty-first Century” for Channel 4 Factuals and “Without Walls - Dennis Potter Interviewed by Melvyn Bragg” for Channel 4 Arts.

Concurrently with Comedy Tom has directed several series of Children’s Drama (My Parents Are Aliens, House Of Anubis, My Phone Genie) and Pre-School shows (Tots’ TV, Gigglebiz, Old Jack’s Boat). He has also made many segments of Adult Continuing Drama (Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks).

After going through the ranks as an Assistant Film Editor and Researcher he quickly began directing segments for Factual Programmes at the BBC and London Weekend TV. He moved on to Entertainment and worked on early reality shows like “Surprise Surprise!” before moving on to more mainstream programmes.

Since then Tom has directed a large number of Comedy Shows from “Spitting Image” and “Dave Allen” to “Give My Head Peace” and “The Citizen Khan” as well as numerous sell through DVDs for the likes of Lee Evans, Jack Dee, Julian Clary and Kevin Bridges. He has directed all the Channel 4 Comedy Galas since their inception in 2011.

Most recently Tom has directed several segments of Channel 4’s continuing drama, “Hollyoaks”, a series of sitcom “The Citizen Khan” for BBC 1 and a series of the BAFTA winning “Old Jack’s Boat” for Cbeebies.
